This episode has everything. EVERYTHING! Action, fanservice, lots of feels and great voice acting!
But first I want to nitpick on this show just a little bit. Seeing that the Alone uses EMPs as its main weapons, the amount of damage it can do is actually kind of weak. Unless it’s a living railgun like a certain scientific one, it couldn’t have hurt Akane.
Next… Dr. Isshiki, you made the vivid system with the intention to save the world as its only hope. Won’t the smart thing to do will be to have a backup system to your backup system? Then add in a few more backups to that?
Enough of pointing out plot holes, let’s move to what is the more important part of the show: the girls. With their glorious Red down for the count and without the ability to dock, they decided to do the sensible thing, go all in.
The plan they had was actually quite genius and the way the action was carried out was amazing, so really nice of the anime to do that. Plus the whole scene of the girls saying how they felt about Akane gave that nice warm feeling inside.
And we’re not even at the best part yet! Just when all hope is lost, the boomerang that just so happened to be nicely strapped to Aoi’s back transforms into a freaking jetpack. (This is the part you’re supposed to take of your sunglasses and say, “I did not see that coming”)
That whole part along with the buildup of feelings led me to, well… burst out laughing. It was just so unexpected that I just couldn’t help it but laugh. The whole situation was soo unexpected that laughter was the only thing that came to my mind.
So yes the plot is like a saint. It’s holey. But as long as they keep up character interaction such as these, I will keep watching. That and hurry up and let Rei transform.
