Oh yeah! We get another episode where we see Kobato!
Sadly, Rika is back to wearing glasses and being herself. I thought they would keep the style where she constantly changed her looks as a running joke. Maybe it was to help keep Rika’s image consistent overall.
Oh look more Kobat- Hey wait…
Yozora’s date with Kodaka sounded nice but ended up quite mediocre. We just saw more of the same interaction between the two that happens when the whole group is around.
Our sole reward was the Moeness from Yozora when they visited the cat cafe.
The neighbours club’s unanimous decision to do a movie was almost as cliche as the speech Kodaka gave Kobato about trying her best. It stretches my tolerance a little.
Now the scenes of filming and reels of movie tape used in the Opening makes sense. The filming of the movie for the cultural festival will probably the focus of the next few episodes and hopefully creates some interesting situations.
The whole scene when they talked about the casting was pretty confusing.
Once they started talking about the script after the roles were switched, I was totally lost. The only thing I got was that Yozora changed the script to make Kodaka have a bigger part that’s closer to hers.
The show tried to switch to a serious and meaningful mood, making Yozora and Kodaka come to terms with what their past relationship means in relation to the present. Unfortunately, it comes off as forced and felt unenjoyable.
Another disappointement was the way the episode ended. A correction of a mistake and a making-up later, this episode ended on a note so flat that planes could land on it.
What happened to all the originality and fun in the first few episodes? I really am sad that NEXT has declined in this way. Episode 7 was already a bit flimsy.
Episode 8 is half-heartedly done. I had more laughs in the next episode’s preview than the second half.
However, all hope is not lost yet!
Come on, red hair girl we see in the Opening! Revive the series! Please!
