Episode 7 is here, regrettably marking the halfway point of the season. It still feels like NEXT just started.
So each of the girls asks Kodaka out on the pretense of buying a present for Kobato. But as the show would have it, the whole group goes out on the same day,
Predictably, they don’t buy anything for Kobato while they’re there and focus on trying to impress Kodaka. After buying some clothes, Yozora decides to go home and they all end up leaving and buying presents separately, which felt like a poor excuse to change scene.
I was too absorbed in the art to notice though. There’s a noticeable amount of effort poured into the character art this time around, especially with Sena, since she got the most time with Kodaka. This episode is a real treat for the eyes.
The Fanservice is also extra-raunchy this time too, bordering on soft porn.
The club hold the birthday party for Kobato and give her their presents. Aside from Sena’s obsession with Kobato, the event actually manages to capture the spirit of a genuine birthday party.
So Maria and Kate crash at Kodaka’s place after they get back from school. The usual stuff happens – Kobato and Maria fight, Kate is all siscon on Maria…
At the end, she drops a hint that she thinks Kodaka is dating Sena, which is probably due to Pegasus-san’s assumptions. I’m expecting the situation to come up in episode 9 and make for a very entertaining 24 minutes.
If there’s one thing I took away from this episode, it’s that Kobato is absolutely adorable.
